Program overview
Not sure yet whether you are an accountant, a marketer or a future HR manager? St. Clair’s Business diploma (code B604) lets you sample all three before you decide. It is a two-year Ontario College Diploma of four semesters, taught at St. Clair’s South Campus in Windsor, where it is the main business diploma for international and domestic applicants alike.
Semester one introduces the main functions of a firm through Introduction To Canadian Business, Introduction To Human Resources, Accounting Concepts I, Microeconomics, Mathematics Of Personal Finance and Business Communications I. Semester two continues with Introduction To Canadian Marketing, Accounting Concepts II, Macro Economics, Statistical Concepts, Basic Spreadsheeting, Money Matters and Business Communications II. In the second year, Employment Law I, Business Law and Business Ethics give you the legal and ethical framework for decisions, while Social Media Marketing, Organizational Behaviour, Managerial Accounting, Financial Management I, Business Operations I and Planning Business Strategy show how a company is run day to day.
Because the Windsor campus also runs St. Clair’s specialised business diplomas, the B604 first year acts as a shared core: after it, students can move smoothly into another business programme at the college. Instructors bring industry backgrounds into class, Basic Spreadsheeting and Statistical Concepts build practical data skills, and three levels of Business Communications train you to write reports and present them. The page also cites an Ontario college memorandum with McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada on student transfer into business diplomas.
St. Clair says graduates are ready for entry-level positions across business disciplines and for starting a small business. Typical first jobs in Windsor-Essex include administrative coordinator, marketing assistant, payroll and HR assistant, customer account representative and operations assistant with manufacturers, logistics firms, retailers and public agencies. It suits students who want flexibility to specialise later.
