Program Description
The Practical Nursing program at Sheridan College prepares students for a rewarding career as registered practical nurses (RPNs). The program provides a comprehensive education in nursing theory, clinical practice, and patient care. Students learn to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients across the lifespan. The curriculum covers topics such as anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, mental health nursing, and community health nursing. Students gain hands-on experience through clinical placements in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and community health settings. Graduates are eligible to write the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination (CPNRE) and pursue careers in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities.
