Program Description
Sheridan College’s Social Service Worker program prepares students for careers in social services, providing support and advocacy for individuals, families, and communities. The curriculum covers key areas such as social work practice, human development, community development, and social policy. Students learn to assess client needs, develop intervention plans, and connect clients with resources and services. The program emphasizes empathy, cultural sensitivity, and ethical decision-making, preparing students to work with diverse populations in a variety of settings. Hands-on experience is gained through field placements, where students apply their knowledge in real-world social service environments. Graduates are well-prepared to pursue careers as social service workers, case managers, community outreach workers, and support workers, making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
