Program Description
The Veterinary Technician program at Sheridan College prepares students for a rewarding career in veterinary medicine, working alongside veterinarians to provide care for animals. The curriculum covers key areas such as animal anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, surgical nursing, and diagnostic imaging. Students learn to perform clinical procedures, administer medications, and assist in surgeries. The program also emphasizes the importance of animal welfare, ethical practices, and client communication. Practical experience is gained through clinical placements in veterinary clinics, animal hospitals, and research facilities. Graduates are eligible to write the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) and pursue careers as veterinary technicians in various settings, including small animal clinics, zoos, and research laboratories.
