Program overview
The Bachelor of Arts - Applied Linguistics at Trinity Western University’s Langley campus in British Columbia is a 4 year bachelor's-degree program studying how language works and how people acquire it.
Students analyse phonetics, syntax, semantics and language acquisition with applied training in TESOL — teaching English to speakers of other languages — supported by TWU's notable strength in linguistics through the Canada Institute of Linguistics.
TWU teaches in small, professor-led classes on a 157-acre residential campus about 45 minutes from Vancouver, and is a provincially chartered member of Universities Canada — so the credential is fully recognised for employment and further study. Uniquely among Canadian universities, international students pay the same tuition as domestic students, and three intakes a year (September, January and May for many programs) keep start dates flexible.
Because this is a full bachelor’s degree, graduates are exempt from Canada’s post-2024 PGWP field-of-study restriction and may qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit of up to three years (final decision rests with IRCC).
