Program overview
The Business Administration – Professional Golf Management advanced diploma is a three-year business credential specialised to golf facility and club operations.
The business core — accounting, marketing, finance, human resources, business law, operations — sits alongside golf-specific content: club and facility management, golf operations and pro shop merchandising, turf and course maintenance fundamentals, tournament and event operations, membership sales and retention, food and beverage management in a club setting, teaching and coaching fundamentals, and player development programming. Placement is with golf clubs and facilities.
The niche is narrower than general business, which cuts both ways: fewer roles, but far fewer qualified applicants for them. Golf is a substantial industry in Ontario with a seasonal operating model, and clubs consistently struggle to recruit managers who understand both the game and a balance sheet. If golf is genuinely your industry, this is a differentiated credential; if not, choose general business administration instead.
The work placement is a graded part of the program, so you finish with documented Canadian experience and a referee rather than only a transcript.
Humber Polytechnic — formerly Humber College — is Ontario’s largest public college and a Designated Learning Institution (DLI O19376943122). The North campus in Etobicoke is its main site, running technology, engineering, health science, business and skilled trades programs in purpose-built labs and shops rather than lecture halls, with three intakes a year and the deepest employer network in the Greater Toronto Area.
Its field maps to CIP 31.0504 (Sport and fitness administration). Important: this is a college credential rather than a degree, so it is not exempt from the November 2024 PGWP field-of-study restriction — eligibility depends on this CIP field appearing on IRCC’s eligible list when you apply. Humber publishes a PGWP-eligible program list with CIP codes; check it, and confirm with an Apply Study Visa counsellor before committing. IRCC makes the final decision.

Career opportunities
Golf facility management is a small but under-supplied employment niche:
- Golf Operations Manager — private and public courses
- Assistant Club Manager — the standard progression route
- Membership Sales Manager — private club revenue
- Tournament Director — events and competitive programming
- Pro Shop Manager — retail and merchandising
- Food and Beverage Manager — club hospitality operations
- Resort Recreation Manager — broader hospitality applications
Ontario golf is seasonal — many graduates pair summer club roles with winter hospitality or facility work.
