Honours Bachelor of Commerce - Business Technology Management (Co-op)

The Honours Bachelor of Commerce – Business Technology Management is a four-year co-op degree for the management of technology inside business rather than for engineering it.

Specialised coursework covers information systems strategy, business process analysis and improvement, database design and data management, systems analysis and requirements, enterprise systems and ERP, business analytics and decision support, IT project management and agile delivery, information security and governance from a management perspective, digital transformation and change management, and emerging technologies in business including AI applications.

The translator role between business and technology is one of the most consistently under-supplied positions in Canadian organisations, and more resilient to automation than junior coding work. As a degree it is also exempt from the PGWP field-of-study restriction.

All Seneca Honours Bachelor of Commerce degrees share a common business core: financial and managerial accounting, microeconomics and macroeconomics, business mathematics and statistics, marketing principles, organisational behaviour, business law, information systems, operations management and business communication. Specialisation deepens through the upper years alongside paid co-op work terms.

Co-op is a built-in part of this degree, so you graduate with paid Canadian work terms already on your resume rather than competing for a first role with no local experience.

Newnham is Seneca’s largest campus, on Finch Avenue East in North York, with its own residence, library, athletic centre and specialised technical labs. It sits on the TTC network with subway connections, and carries the bulk of Seneca’s business, technology and engineering catalogue — which means the widest range of student clubs, services and peers of any Seneca site.

Seneca Polytechnic — formerly Seneca College — is one of Ontario’s largest public colleges and a Designated Learning Institution. Newnham is its biggest campus, on Finch Avenue East in North York, and carries the bulk of Seneca’s business, technology, engineering technology, aviation and applied science catalogue. It has its own residence, a large library and athletic centre, and sits on the TTC network with connections to the subway.

Its field maps to CIP 52.1201 (Management information systems). Because this is a degree, graduates are exempt from the November 2024 PGWP field-of-study restriction that applies to college credentials. Full-time on-campus study and graduation remain the conditions, and IRCC makes the final decision.
