Honours Bachelor of Information Technology Design and Management (Co-op)

The Honours Bachelor of Information Technology Design and Management is a four-year co-op degree for the management and design of technology systems rather than pure engineering.

Coursework covers systems analysis and design, business process modelling, database design and management, networking and infrastructure fundamentals, programming and scripting, enterprise architecture, IT project management, information security and governance, data analytics for decision-making, user experience principles, IT service management, change management and digital transformation, and business fundamentals including finance and organisational behaviour, with co-op work terms.

The role this targets — translating between business need and technical delivery — is one of the most consistently under-supplied in Canadian organisations, and it is more resilient to automation than junior coding work. As a degree it is exempt from the PGWP field-of-study restriction.

Co-op is a built-in part of this degree, so you graduate with paid Canadian work terms already on your resume rather than competing for a first role with no local experience.

Newnham is Seneca’s largest campus, on Finch Avenue East in North York, with its own residence, library, athletic centre and specialised technical labs. It sits on the TTC network with subway connections, and carries the bulk of Seneca’s business, technology and engineering catalogue — which means the widest range of student clubs, services and peers of any Seneca site.

Seneca Polytechnic — formerly Seneca College — is one of Ontario’s largest public colleges and a Designated Learning Institution. Newnham is its biggest campus, on Finch Avenue East in North York, and carries the bulk of Seneca’s business, technology, engineering technology, aviation and applied science catalogue. It has its own residence, a large library and athletic centre, and sits on the TTC network with connections to the subway.

Its field maps to CIP 11.0103 (Information technology). Because this is a degree, graduates are exempt from the November 2024 PGWP field-of-study restriction that applies to college credentials. Full-time on-campus study and graduation remain the conditions, and IRCC makes the final decision.
