Program overview
This is the January-start route into DMU’s Global MBA, delivered over 18 months from Leicester Castle Business School, which occupies the restored medieval Great Hall site in the city centre. The longer January structure covers the same core as the September intake — strategic management, leading people, marketing in a global context, accounting for decision-makers, and operations — but spreads the taught blocks so the final project lands in the summer of the second year.
The distinguishing element of the Global MBA is its applied strand: a live corporate challenge module in which teams work a real brief from a partner organisation, plus workshops on negotiation, consultancy practice and leadership diagnostics. Assessment leans on business reports, boardroom-style presentations and the final management project rather than closed exams, and the 18-month calendar leaves room for an extended in-company project where students secure one.
Leicester itself keeps the budget manageable for an 18-month stay: shared housing commonly runs £400–£550 a month, well under southern-England rates, and the campus sits ten minutes on foot from the railway station with direct London trains in just over an hour. The MBA scholarship recorded in the CourseFinder export is £3,500, the largest single award in this sheet, which softens the £20,300 fee meaningfully for January joiners.
Applicants should weigh the market honestly. UK employers treat an MBA from a modern university as a management-conversion qualification, not a fast track to senior roles, and the salary uplift comes mostly to those who arrive with meaningful experience. As a taught master’s the course confers Graduate Route eligibility — note carefully that an 18-month January 2027 cohort will finish in mid-2028, after the rule change, so post-study permission will be 18 months rather than two years — and dependants are not permitted on taught study visas. Budget for that shorter runway when planning the job search.

Admission requirements
Who can apply (guide for international students):
- Education: A four-year bachelor’s degree (or equivalent as assessed by DMU) with a minimum of 70% per the portal export — note the CourseFinder source describes the same entry as a UK 2:2 honours class; verify the operative bar with DMU admissions.
- English (meet any one, per source): IELTS 6 overall with no band below 5.5; PTE Academic 59 overall (no component below 59); TOEFL 60 overall as recorded in source (legacy component format R-8, W-18, L-7, S-16); Duolingo English Test 105.
- English waiver: English test waiver may be available on Medium of Instruction plus Standard 12 English at 65% or above (2015 or later, all boards) except boards of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh — assessed case by case per the CourseFinder source.
- Application: No application fee. Deposit amount not stated in source — confirm with DMU International before CAS stage.

Career opportunities
Typical first destinations for graduates:
- Business Development Manager — pipeline and client-growth roles across sectors
- Operations Manager — running service delivery or supply operations
- Management Consultant (Analyst entry) — process and strategy projects at boutique firms
- Project Lead — coordinating cross-functional delivery teams
- Product Manager — owning roadmaps in tech-enabled businesses
- General Manager (SME) — broad P&L responsibility in smaller companies
Reality check: a UK MBA without prior work experience carries limited weight with large employers; this January cohort works best for candidates with two or more years of professional history who can point to it in interviews.
