Program overview
BA (Hons) Human Resource Management gives the people profession a full three-year treatment: HR fundamentals, employment law, employee relations, resourcing and talent management, learning and development, reward, and HR analytics, wrapped around a general business core in the first year. The curriculum is written against the CIPD professional map, and casework runs on the situations HR practitioners actually manage — grievances, absence, restructures and pay reviews.
Skills teaching is deliberately procedural — students conduct mock disciplinary and appraisal meetings, draft contracts and policies against current legislation, and analyse workforce datasets for turnover and diversity patterns, because junior HR work is precise, documented and legally exposed. The final year adds strategic HRM and a research project many students base on a real organisation’s people problem.
Part-time work doubles as fieldwork for this degree more than any other in the batch: retail and hospitality supervision, campus ambassador roles and society committee positions all generate the people-management anecdotes that HR interviews are built around, and the course’s block timetable — one module at a time — leaves workable space for such roles. The £16,800 fee sits at the faculty’s standard undergraduate rate across all three September cycles.
Career candour: HR entry is administrator-grade at £20,000–£24,000 and progression runs through CIPD levels and casework exposure, but demand is unusually geography-proof — every sizeable employer in every town needs the function, and Midlands shared-service centres hire at volume. The honours degree brings Graduate Route access on completion, at the 18-month term that will apply to current applicants’ graduation dates, with dependants excluded throughout on taught study routes.

Who can apply (guide for international students):

- L&D Coordinator — training logistics and delivery support
- Payroll & Benefits Assistant — people-operations roles
