Program overview
Are you aiming to manage people, projects and whole organisations one day? IBU’s Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Business Management is a 120 credit honours degree taught over eight semesters, roughly 32 months of year-round study in downtown Toronto, and it is designed to develop well rounded managers rather than narrow specialists.
The opening year covers the essentials of commerce: Introduction to Business, Introduction to Accounting, Introduction to International Business, Business Research and Communication, Applied Economics, Organizational Behaviour and Contemporary World History. Level two adds Strategic Management, Management Accounting, Human Resource Management, Marketing and Sales and Project Management. Level three develops Organizational Design, Leadership Skills, Negotiation Skills, Law and Ethics in a Business Context and Special Topics in CSR, with two data analytics courses that train you to read business numbers with confidence. The final year brings the pieces together in Corporate Strategy, Global Strategy, Business Trends and Leading in Diverse Contexts.
Each intake is limited to about 30 students, so classes stay small and discussion based. You apply what you learn in the Special Management Project Course, where teams develop a business plan with faculty and industry mentors, and in a final capstone that tests your judgement on an applied management problem. Faculty pair academic expertise with practical business experience, and e-books are included in the fees, so there are no separate textbook costs.
Graduates pursue roles such as account manager, business analyst, management advisor, strategic planner, human resources manager, operations manager and project manager, and some use their business plan as the first step toward launching a venture of their own. It is the right fit if you want a broad management education that keeps doors open across industries.

Admission requirements
Who can apply (guide for international students):
- Education: Grade 12 or equivalent with at least 60 percent. IBU asks for official transcripts, a letter of intent and, where needed, a WES or ICAS evaluation.
- English (meet any one): IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 6.0; TOEFL iBT 83 with no section below 20 (Home Edition and MyBest scores are not accepted); PTE Academic 60; the Duolingo English Test at 105; CAEL 70 with no band below 60; CELPIP 7 with no band below 7; or Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency at 175 with no component below 170. Scores must be less than two years old.
- Tuition and deposit: IBU lists international BCom tuition at CAD 9,250 a semester plus CAD 415 in fees that include e-books, which is CAD 19,330 for two semesters. A minimum deposit of CAD 4,975 secures the letter of acceptance, and every semester is paid before it starts. Mandatory GuardMe health cover costs about CAD 765 a year. Refunds carry a CAD 500 processing fee.
- Scholarship: Every international BCom applicant receives IBU’s International Bursary of CAD 9,000, and applicants from India also qualify for the Asia Bursary of a further CAD 9,000, a total of CAD 18,000 spread across the eight semesters (about CAD 2,250 a semester). It is awarded automatically at admission. IBU publishes it for intakes up to Fall 2026 and reviews it every year, so confirm it on your offer letter for a 2027 start. To keep it you must start before your offer expires, stay full time, keep good academic standing and pay the remaining fees on time.
- Study permit: IBU is a private university, so you need a provincial attestation letter from Ontario with your study permit application. The January 2026 exemption for master’s and doctoral students applies only to public institutions and does not cover IBU.
- Work rights: IBU holds ministerial consent to award this degree, so it is PGWP eligible without a field of study test and, at 32 months, supports a work permit of up to three years. The PGWP needs a CLB 7 language result in all four skills. A spouse or partner does not qualify for an open work permit through a bachelor’s programme.
