Ready to become the nurse patients remember for calm, skilled care? The Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a four-year, eight-semester degree offered independently by Cambrian College in Sudbury under consent from Ontario’s Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities, with preliminary approval from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Year one covers Nursing Foundations and its lab, Clinical Readiness and Preparedness, Microbiology and Immunology, Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Health Assessment, Relational Practice and Numeracy and Statistics. Year two moves to Clinical Biochemistry, Pathophysiology I and II, Pharmacology & Therapeutics I and II, Chronic Illness and Acute Illness, each paired with a lab and clinical course, plus Critical Thinking and Inquiry. Year three brings Maternal, Child and Pediatrics, Family-Centred Nursing, Mental Health Concepts I and II, Nursing Research, Nursing and Informatics and Healing through Reconciliation, and year four adds Nursing Leadership, Health Policy Global Health and Integrated Nursing Theory.
Cambrian combines case studies with training in a high-tech nursing simulation lab, then places students in more than 1,000 clinical hours across long-term care, hospital and community settings, on weekday and weekend shifts of eight or twelve hours. The curriculum emphasises interprofessional collaboration and culturally sensitive care for Indigenous and other populations, ending with Integrated Nursing Practicum I and II. Graduates are eligible to write the NCLEX-RN examination set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, and Practical Nursing graduates can reach year three through the PNRN bridge semester.
Graduates work as registered nurses in medical-surgical units, long-term care, community and public health, mental health services, maternal and child care and emergency departments. The degree suits caring, resilient students with strong biology and chemistry who can handle demanding clinical rotations and want a nursing career across northern Ontario and beyond.

Admission requirements
Admission requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 with English, Maths, Biology and Chemistry, minimum 75% average.
- English: IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 88 or PTE 58. Duolingo is not accepted.
- Also needed: Police check with vulnerable sector screening, immunisations and first aid/CPR before placement; placements may be outside Sudbury.
- PGWP: Yes, up to 3 years. Needs CLB 7. Cambrian notes eligibility is subject to programme benchmarks.
- Before you apply: CAD 95 application fee. Ontario PAL required. Visa refused? Full refund less CAD 250 if you send the refusal within 10 business days.
