Honours Bachelor of Business Administration

Want a business degree that lets you test-drive accounting, analytics and marketing before you commit to one? Cambrian College’s Honours Bachelor of Business Administration is a four-year honours degree, spread over nine semesters at the Barrydowne campus in Sudbury. It gives you solid grounding in general business administration and then lets you specialise in Accounting, Data Analytics or Digital Marketing, or stay in the General stream.

The first two years cover every functional area of business. Semester one includes Intro to Accounting, Intro to Business Management, Spreadsheets for Business, Business Communication, Microeconomics and Marketing Essentials. Semester two adds Intro to Managerial Accounting, IS & Programming Fundamentals, Case Analysis Workshop, Indigenous Business Economics and Business and Financial Math. Year two brings Financial Accounting, Business and Commercial Law, Statistics for Business, Macroeconomics, Marketing Management, Intro to Business Analytics, Introduction to Finance, Managing Human Resources and Logistics and Operations. In the General stream, later semesters include Business Strategy, Decision Models, Artificial Intelligence, New Venture Creation, International Business, Project Management and Corporate Finance.

Teaching in the HBBA relies on business cases, simulations and workshops led by industry experts. Semester seven is BBA Internship, a mandatory 14-week paid placement with businesses in the provincial and national community. Applied Research Methods in semester eight prepares you for the Applied Learning Project and Workshop on Leadership in the final semester. Graduates of Cambrian’s Business and Business - Accounting diplomas with a 2.5 GPA can receive advanced standing into year three.

Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles such as accountant, financial auditor, digital marketer, data analyst, business intelligence analyst and communication specialist, and some are well placed for management roles after their internship and applied project. The HBBA suits students who want the depth of an honours degree with a full semester of paid business experience built in.
