Program overview
The apps you open every morning were planned, coded, tested and shipped by teams of developers, and Application Development and Delivery teaches you each of those stages. This RRC Polytech diploma runs 28 months at the Exchange District Campus downtown: four academic terms followed by a work-integrated learning term.
Term 1 opens with Software Development Fundamentals, Customer Experience and UX for Developers, IT Fundamentals and Service Management for Software Developers. Term 2 adds Front-End Development, Intermediate Software Development, Transforming Data Into Databases and Networking and Troubleshooting for Developers. In Term 3 you take Back-End Development, Cloud Infrastructure and Development, Secure Coding and Testing and Application Design and Delivery, and Term 4 pulls it together in Full Stack Development and Developing in a DevOps Environment. Along the way you work with APIs, REST architecture, SQL and NoSQL databases, version control, containers and CI/CD methods.
Teaching follows the full software lifecycle using agile processes, so you design, build, test, deploy and maintain applications rather than simply write code. Electives such as Internet of Things, Security Foundations and Business Application Integration add depth, and the Cloud Infrastructure elective prepares you for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification. The fifth term is either a paid co-op placement, assigned competitively, or an industry project in the ACE Project Space solving a problem for a real client. Because the coursework is demanding on hardware, students bring a laptop that meets higher specifications than other RRC Polytech programmes require.
Graduates work as software or application developers, front-end or back-end developers, full stack developers and DevOps engineers, and with experience become team leaders, consultants or senior programmer analysts; remote work is increasingly common in these roles. The programme suits logical problem-solvers who enjoy building applications that real users depend on.

Admission requirements
Admission requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 (Maths waived until 31 March 2027).
- English: IELTS 6.0 (no band below 5.5), TOEFL iBT 78 (17 in each) or 4.0 on the 2026 scale, PTE 54 (50 in each) or Duolingo 115 (95 in each).
- Also needed: A laptop that meets the programme’s higher specification.
- PGWP: Yes (CIP 11.0205), up to 3 years. Needs CLB 5.
- Before you apply: CAD 160 application fee. CAD 5,000 deposit within 14 days of the offer, refunded on a study permit refusal if claimed within 30 days. Manitoba PAL required.
