Students will complete junior and industry-quality live-action and full computer graphic (CG) shots, mastering practical lighting techniques in CG environments. Film practical footage using industry-standard data acquisition, green screen, cinematography techniques, and fundamentals. Integrate CG assets and animation into live-action plates and games, showcasing a comprehensive skill set.<br><br>Throughout the program, students design mechanics, produce captivating art, and program functionality for over a dozen games and prototypes. Working under tight creative and time constraints, the program transforms creative ideas into reality, enabling the production of engaging and interactive games.<br><br>Equip yourself with industry-standard tools and technologies, as software and hardware are provided and taught during the program. From Unity Engine and Unreal Engine for game development to Maya, Houdini, and Substance Painter for 3D modeling and texturing, students gain hands-on experience with essential tools. Collaboration tools such as Git, Perforce, Confluence, and Jira are integrated into the workflow, mirroring real-world industry practices.<br><br>By the program's conclusion, students emerge with a comprehensive skill set, a robust portfolio, and the confidence to navigate the competitive landscape of the game development industry. The portfolio should showcase the applicant’s proficiency in digital design software, creativity, artistic range, and/or technical ability. Portfolios should reflect the applicant’s personal artistic interests and identity. Successful applicant portfolios will reflect a broad range of techniques, influences, styles, and subject matter.<br>If you have questions or would like an informal pre-assessment of your portfolio, please email ceaportfolio@bowvalleycollege.ca.
