This is the accredited route toward registered interior design, quite distinct from the interior decorating diploma Conestoga runs at the Doon campus.
Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) is taught at Conestoga College Cambridge Fountain Street, a public Ontario college on the post-secondary institution list. Because the interior design degree is a degree, it is exempt from the PGWP field of study requirement that applies to college level credentials. Conestoga records the interior design degree under CIP 50.0408. That exemption lets the interior design degree support a post-graduation work permit of up to three years whatever the subject. Ontario still requires a provincial attestation letter before the interior design degree can support a study permit application.
Candidates for Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) present Grade 12 or equivalent at 70 percent. The English requirement is IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0, and tuition for the interior design degree is recorded at CAD 15,961. Conestoga charges a CAD 100 application fee, and no scholarship is recorded against the interior design degree. The interior design degree lists only two entry windows, both September starts. - Education: Grade 12 or equivalent at the percentage stated, normally including mathematics and physics.
- English (meet any one): IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0; TOEFL iBT 88 with 22 in every section; PTE Academic 58 with no component below 10; or the Duolingo English Test at 120.
- Application and deposit: Conestoga charges a CAD 100 application fee. Confirm the tuition deposit and its refundability in writing before any money is transferred.
- Scholarship: No scholarship is recorded against this programme. Budget the full tuition.
- Additional requirement: Registered interior designer status in Ontario requires an accredited degree, examinations and provincial registration, assessed separately from graduating.
- Work rights: The interior design degree is a degree, exempt from the field of study rule, supporting a work permit of up to three years. Conestoga records CIP 50.0408. A PGWP also requires a language test at CLB 7 in all four abilities for degree graduates, taken within two years of applying. This is separate from the English test you need for admission. No dependant open work permit applies.
