Program overview

A four year honours degree in justice practice, covering criminology, corrections and rehabilitation, community justice, restorative approaches and co-op work terms.

This asks 65 percent rather than the 70 the other Doon degrees require, and as a degree it is exempt from the field of study rule.

Bachelor of Community and Criminal Justice (Honours) is taught at Conestoga College Doon campus, a public Ontario college on the post-secondary institution list. Because the community and criminal justice degree is a degree, it is exempt from the PGWP field of study requirement that applies to college level credentials. Conestoga records the community and criminal justice degree under CIP 43.0104. That exemption lets the community and criminal justice degree support a post-graduation work permit of up to three years whatever the subject. Ontario still requires a provincial attestation letter before the community and criminal justice degree can support a study permit application.

Candidates for Bachelor of Community and Criminal Justice (Honours) present Grade 12 or equivalent at 65 percent. The English requirement is IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0, and tuition for the community and criminal justice degree is recorded at CAD 15,961. Conestoga charges a CAD 100 application fee, and no scholarship is recorded against the community and criminal justice degree. The community and criminal justice degree lists three entry windows across the annual intake cycle. Apply Study Visa manages your the community and criminal justice degree application, the deposit, the offer, the attestation letter and the Canadian study permit as one process.

Admission requirements

Who can apply (guide for international students):

  • Education: Grade 12 or equivalent at the percentage stated for this programme.
  • English (meet any one): IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0; TOEFL iBT 88 with 22 in every section; PTE Academic 58 with no component below 10; or the Duolingo English Test at 120.
  • Application and deposit: Conestoga charges a CAD 100 application fee. Confirm the tuition deposit and its refundability in writing before any money is transferred.
  • Scholarship: No scholarship is recorded against this programme. Budget the full tuition.
  • Additional requirement: Correctional, probation and policing roles in Canada normally require Canadian citizenship or permanent residence plus security clearance. This degree does not confer eligibility for those posts.

A PGWP also requires a language test at CLB 7 in all four abilities for degree graduates, taken within two years of applying. This is separate from the English test you need for admission. No dependant open work permit applies.
  • Study permit: Apply Study Visa prepares the attestation letter request, the financial evidence and the Canadian study permit submission with you.
