Program overview

The College Certificate - Veterinary Assistant (VTA1) is a 1 year program at Fanshawe College’s London campus.

A year of animal handling, husbandry, clinic support and client care with placement in working practices — the quickest entry into Canada's chronically understaffed veterinary sector. Graduates work while deciding whether to ladder into the registered Veterinary Technician diploma.

Around it sits one of Ontario’s largest public colleges — 40,000-plus students in London, where living costs undercut Toronto by thousands a year and Fanshawe’s published 100+ PGWP-aligned list keeps planning transparent.

The CIP classification here is 51.0808 (field of study). Full-time, on-campus completion of an eligible two-year program supports the three-year permit; shorter programs support permits matching their length. IRCC decides finally.
