Program overview
The Conservation Biology diploma at Fleming College's Frost Campus in Lindsay, Ontario prepares you for hands-on field and laboratory work protecting species, habitats and biodiversity. Over two years you will study ecology, botany, zoology, wildlife and fisheries science, data collection and analysis, GIS, and conservation techniques, with an emphasis on field skills. Fleming's environmental programs are nationally respected, and the Frost Campus setting — surrounded by forests, wetlands and lakes — makes the outdoors your classroom.
You will learn to identify species, conduct ecological surveys and monitoring, collect and analyse biological data, use GIS and field equipment, and support habitat restoration and conservation projects. The applied, field-intensive approach means you graduate confident working in real natural environments. Graduates pursue roles as conservation and field technicians, biological and wildlife technicians, environmental field technicians, habitat-restoration workers, and park and stewardship staff with conservation authorities, government agencies, consultancies and non-profits. International students gain hands-on Canadian field experience in a specialised, meaningful field. If you are passionate about nature, wildlife and protecting the environment, and enjoy working outdoors, this diploma offers an engaging pathway into conservation and environmental science, and a strong foundation for further study in the field.
With Fleming's hands-on facilities and the Frost Campus's forests, wetlands and waterways as a living classroom, graduates leave ready to step into roles such as Conservation / Field Technician with real, Canadian field experience employers value.
