Program overview
The Electrical Engineering Technology advanced diploma at Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario is a three-year program that builds advanced, applied expertise in electrical and electronic systems, power, controls and automation. You will study electrical and electronics theory, power systems, motors and drives, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), instrumentation, electrical design and technical project work, supported by extensive hands-on laboratory practice with industry-standard equipment.
You will learn to design, build, test and troubleshoot electrical and control systems, apply industrial automation and instrumentation, produce and interpret technical drawings, and manage technical projects from concept to completion. The advanced technologist focus opens higher-level roles than a two-year diploma and gives you the depth employers in technical industries value. Graduates work as electrical engineering technologists, controls and automation technologists, electrical designers, instrumentation technologists, and project and field technologists in manufacturing, utilities, automation and construction. With electrification and automation expanding across every sector, skilled technologists are in strong, sustained demand. International students gain valuable Canadian technical experience and an applied credential that can support professional-technologist recognition and further study. If you want a deeper, future-focused and well-paid career in electrical and automation technology, this advanced diploma provides the rigorous, hands-on foundation to get there.
Beyond technical know-how, you will develop the communication, teamwork and professionalism employers prize, graduating well prepared for roles such as Electrical Engineering Technologist and for long-term career growth in Canada and beyond.
