Program overview
The Pharmacy Technician diploma at Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario prepares you for a regulated, in-demand role at the heart of the healthcare team. Over two years you will study pharmacology, pharmaceutical calculations, dispensing, compounding (both non-sterile and sterile), pharmacy law and ethics, and the technology used in modern pharmacies. Hands-on labs and practical placements in community and hospital pharmacies give you the real-world experience employers and regulators expect.
You will learn to accurately prepare and dispense medications, manage inventory, process prescriptions, prepare sterile products, and support patients under the supervision of a pharmacist. The program is designed to align with the standards needed to become a Registered Pharmacy Technician in Ontario, a recognised and growing profession. Graduates work in community and retail pharmacies, hospitals, long-term care, and compounding facilities, with strong demand across the healthcare sector. International students gain valuable Canadian pharmacy experience and a credential built around regulatory standards. With healthcare expanding and pharmacy technicians taking on greater responsibility, this diploma offers a stable, rewarding career helping people access the medications and care they need safely and reliably.
Fleming’s supportive learning environment and emphasis on real Canadian experience help international students build both skills and confidence, opening the door to rewarding roles such as Registered Pharmacy Technician after graduation.
