Business Administration: International Year One (Integrated Entry)

What if your English is nearly ready but your business ambition does not want to wait? The Integrated Entry route into International Year One (UTP Stage II): Business Administration lets you start degree credit at FIC, beside SFU in Burnaby, while strengthening your English in the same term. The programme runs over three terms, about one year, and classes are small enough for instructors to know your progress.

In the opening term, INTG100 builds your English for university study and ILS101 Integrated Learning Skills sharpens note-taking and research habits, while two credit courses keep your degree moving. From there you work through the business core: BUS200 Business Fundamentals, ECON103 on microeconomics, ECON105 on the wider economy, BUS216 on professional business communication, a calculus course and a writing requirement. Language practice is tied to the same readings and assignments you meet in these subjects, so improvement shows up in your grades as well as your English.

Courses follow SFU outlines and are taught by instructors the university has approved. Once you finish ten courses, the key number is 3.2: that cumulative GPA, with no required grade below C-, secures a guaranteed seat in year two of SFU’s Bachelor of Business Administration at the Beedie School of Business. A GPA from 2.67 upward opens a broad-based application, and 2.5 can lead to SFU’s Communication and Business double minor. Co-op work terms are optional within the Beedie degree.

Business graduates commonly work as accounting associates, account managers, operations analysts, marketing specialists, recruiters or financial planning assistants. Integrated Entry fits a student whose English level falls between Cornerstone and direct entry and who prefers to learn language skills through real coursework rather than a separate course, without adding an extra term.
