Program overview

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) – Nursing is a four-year degree leading toward registration as a Registered Nurse in Ontario, and the most academically demanding admission at Humber’s North campus — 75% at Class 12 and IELTS 7.0.

The curriculum runs anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and medication administration, health assessment, nursing theory and practice across the lifespan, medical-surgical nursing, maternal-newborn and paediatric nursing, mental health nursing, community and population health, nursing research and evidence-based practice, leadership and professional ethics. Clinical placement runs through the program in hospitals and community settings, escalating from foundational care to preceptored practice in the final year.

Nursing is the strongest immigration-aligned health credential Canada offers international students: provincial nominee programs across the country prioritise nurses, and demand is structural rather than cyclical. As a degree, it is also exempt from the PGWP field-of-study restriction.

Clinical placement is a mandatory, graded component. Placements require immunisation records, a police vulnerable sector check, CPR certification and mask fit testing — students who cannot complete these cannot progress, so arrange them early.

This is a regulated health profession in Ontario. Graduating from the program is not the same as being licensed to practise: registration with the relevant Ontario college and a certification examination follow graduation. Confirm the current registration pathway for internationally educated applicants before you apply.

Humber Polytechnic — formerly Humber College — is Ontario’s largest public college and a Designated Learning Institution (DLI O19376943122). The North campus in Etobicoke is its main site, running technology, engineering, health science, business and skilled trades programs in purpose-built labs and shops rather than lecture halls, with three intakes a year and the deepest employer network in the Greater Toronto Area.

Its field maps to CIP 51.3801 (Registered nursing). Because this is a degree, graduates are exempt from the November 2024 PGWP field-of-study restriction that applies to college credentials. Full-time on-campus study and graduation remain the conditions, and IRCC makes the final decision.
