Certificate of Achievement - Graphic Design for Print and Web

The Graphic Design for Print and Web certificate of achievement is a one-year program covering design production across both output channels, and shares the lowest tuition in the North campus catalogue.

Students work through design principles including composition, hierarchy, colour theory and typography, the Adobe production suite — Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign — print production and prepress including colour management and file preparation, layout for publications and marketing collateral, brand and identity basics, web and screen design fundamentals, and portfolio development. Studio critique runs throughout.

The dual print-and-web scope is a practical choice: purely print designers have a shrinking market, purely digital designers miss packaging, signage and publication work that still pays well. One year produces a production designer rather than an art director — students wanting the strategic side should look at the three-year Graphic Design advanced diploma.

Humber Polytechnic — formerly Humber College — is Ontario’s largest public college and a Designated Learning Institution (DLI O19376943122). The North campus in Etobicoke is its main site, running technology, engineering, health science, business and skilled trades programs in purpose-built labs and shops rather than lecture halls, with three intakes a year and the deepest employer network in the Greater Toronto Area.

Important: this is a college credential rather than a degree, so it is not exempt from the November 2024 PGWP field-of-study restriction — eligibility depends on this CIP field appearing on IRCC’s eligible list when you apply.
