College Diploma - Electronics Engineering Technician

The Electronics Engineering Technician diploma is a two-year program in electronic circuits, systems and testing.

Students cover DC and AC circuit analysis, semiconductor devices and analogue electronics, digital logic and combinational and sequential circuits, microcontroller programming and embedded systems, instrumentation and measurement technique, communications electronics, printed circuit board design and fabrication, and troubleshooting methodology. Lab work is continuous — students build, measure and fault-find real circuits on oscilloscopes and analysers throughout.

Systematic troubleshooting is the transferable skill this program delivers, and it is scarcer than it sounds. Being able to isolate a fault in a working system by reasoning rather than substitution is what employers in manufacturing, telecommunications and service industries are actually paying for.

Humber Polytechnic — formerly Humber College — is Ontario’s largest public college and a Designated Learning Institution (DLI O19376943122). The North campus in Etobicoke is its main site, running technology, engineering, health science, business and skilled trades programs in purpose-built labs and shops rather than lecture halls, with three intakes a year and the deepest employer network in the Greater Toronto Area.

Important: this is a college credential rather than a degree, so it is not exempt from the November 2024 PGWP field-of-study restriction — eligibility depends on this CIP field appearing on IRCC’s eligible list when you apply.
