Graduate Certificate - Environmental Control

The Environmental Control graduate certificate is an eight-month postgraduate program in pollution control and environmental compliance for science and technology graduates.

Content covers environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks in Ontario and federally, air quality monitoring and emissions control technology, water and wastewater treatment processes, solid and hazardous waste management, contaminated site assessment and remediation, environmental sampling and analytical methods, environmental management systems and auditing, and environmental impact assessment and reporting.

The regulatory content is what makes this employable rather than academic. Environmental hiring in Canada is driven by compliance obligations — permits, monitoring, reporting, audits — and employers need people who can navigate the regulatory framework, not only understand the science behind it.

Humber Polytechnic — formerly Humber College — is Ontario’s largest public college and a Designated Learning Institution (DLI O19376943122). The North campus in Etobicoke is its main site, running technology, engineering, health science, business and skilled trades programs in purpose-built labs and shops rather than lecture halls, with three intakes a year and the deepest employer network in the Greater Toronto Area.
