Not sure yet which area of business you want to lead? The Master of Business Administration (General Stream) at IBU gives you broad leadership training across strategy, finance, operations and management, in a 42 credit programme of four semesters, about 16 months, taught on campus in Toronto.
Your core covers Financial Management, Business Analytics, Organizational Behaviour: Leading in a Diverse Environment, Marketing and Social Media, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Information Technology and Digital Transformation, Research Methods and Macroeconomics. Semester three pairs Strategy (For Tech Management) with Regulatory Environments, Ethics and CSR, and the General Stream gives you the widest choice of any IBU MBA: two electives from Business Planning, Technology Trends and Applications, Financing and Valuation of New Ventures, Global Business Service Management, Business Process and System Design, Global Supply Chain Management and Communications, Interpersonal Skills and Negotiation.
That freedom lets you shape the degree around your goals, whether they point to supply chain, venture finance or process design. The emphasis throughout is on critical thinking, problem solving and decision making in different business contexts. The final semester is a capstone of your choice, either a consulting project for an organisation, a business plan or a major research paper, so you finish with applied work rather than exams alone. Because the elective list overlaps with the specialised streams, you can build a concentration of your own without committing to one when you apply.
The General Stream suits graduates from any discipline who want a management qualification, including engineers and science graduates moving into business. Graduates move into roles such as operations manager, business consultant, project manager, account manager and general manager across many sectors.

Admission requirements
Who can apply (guide for international students):
- Education: A recognised three year bachelor’s degree or higher, with at least 60 percent, in any discipline. GMAT and GRE are not required. IBU asks for official transcripts, a letter of intent and, where needed, a WES or ICAS evaluation.
- English (meet any one): IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 6.0; TOEFL iBT 83 with no section below 20 (Home Edition and MyBest scores are not accepted); PTE Academic 60; the Duolingo English Test at 105; CAEL 70 with no band below 60; CELPIP 7 with no band below 7; or Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency at 175 with no component below 170. Scores must be less than two years old.
- Tuition and deposit: IBU lists international MBA tuition at CAD 9,800 a semester plus CAD 415 in fees that include e-books, about CAD 40,860 for the four semesters. A deposit is paid to receive the letter of acceptance, and each semester is paid before it starts. Mandatory GuardMe health cover costs about CAD 765 a year. Refunds carry a CAD 500 processing fee.
- Scholarship: No bursary is currently open to Indian applicants for this MBA. IBU’s MBA Head Start Bursary of CAD 5,000 is limited to a list of about 90 countries that does not include India, the Advancement Bursary is only for students from the Philippines and Vietnam, and the IBU Financial Aid Program is for Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Budget the full tuition.
- Study permit: IBU is a private university, so you need a provincial attestation letter from Ontario with your study permit application. The January 2026 exemption for master’s and doctoral students applies only to public institutions and does not cover IBU.
- Work rights: IBU holds ministerial consent to award this MBA, so it is PGWP eligible; as a master’s degree of at least eight months it supports a work permit of up to three years. The PGWP needs a CLB 7 language result in all four skills. At 16 months, the programme meets IRCC’s rule for a spouse or common-law partner to apply for an open work permit.
