Program overview
Embark on a fulfilling career in the dynamic and essential field of Environmental Technology with our Co-op Diploma program. This program prepares students to meet national standards in various environmental disciplines, particularly those pertinent to Alberta's natural resource sector, including the oil sands industry. The curriculum encompasses a comprehensive range of subjects such as biology, chemistry, ecology, soil science, environmental law, geotechnical procedures, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), water quality, wildlife management, and land reclamation within forestry, mining, and oil sands operations.
A distinctive feature of this program is the summer work term, which provides students with valuable hands-on experience in the region, enhancing their practical skills and employability. Graduates are equipped to either enter the workforce directly or pursue further studies by transferring into the third year of a degree in Environmental Sciences at the University of Lethbridge. The Environmental Technology program offers new intakes every September and January, ensuring flexibility for students.

The hands-on experience and comprehensive curriculum provided me with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the environmental field. The summer work term was invaluable, allowing me to apply what I learned in real-world settings and make important industry connections. I highly recommend this program to anyone passionate about making a difference in environmental conservation and management
