Business Administration: Logistics and Supply Chain Management

Can you picture yourself deciding how a shipment reaches a customer on time and at the right cost? At RRC Polytech’s Exchange District Campus downtown, in the Roblin Centre, the Logistics and Supply Chain Management - Business Administration diploma spends two years, split into four terms, preparing you for exactly that work in Manitoba’s transportation and supply chain sector.

Your first year mixes general business with an early look at the field: Accounting Fundamentals, Marketing Foundations and Business Mathematics sit beside Introduction to Supply Chain Management, Economics and Organizational Behaviour, while Communication Strategies and Communication for Business sharpen your writing. Year two narrows the lens. Procurement and Supply Chain Management deals with purchasing and supplier relations, Transportation and Logistics Fundamentals looks at moving goods and managing inventory, and Supply Chain Integration connects the two, with Operations and Quality Management, Business Law and Client Relationships completing the final terms.

Downtown classes run over four academic terms without a work placement, and the programme ends with Business Strategy, the capstone where you apply two years of learning to a company’s overall direction. Project Management and Research Methods, taken in the first year, give you planning and analysis tools you reuse in that capstone. Several courses satisfy academic requirements set by CITT, the transportation and logistics professional body, and articulation agreements with the University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg, Booth University College and CPA Manitoba open routes to further study. A laptop running Windows 11 is required for the business applications taught in class.

Exchange District graduates of this diploma can target posts such as logistics agent, procurement specialist, transportation planner, logistics analyst, inventory analyst or purchasing agent, and later operations or quality assurance management. It fits students who like studying in the heart of the city, who are comfortable with data and deadlines, and who want to specialise in supply chains from the start of their business studies.
