Network and Systems Administrator

Behind every login screen, shared drive and cloud app is an administrator keeping the servers patched and the network up. RRC Polytech’s Network and Systems Administrator diploma trains you for that job over two years at the South Winnipeg Campus, with May and September starts and a blended timetable of in-person and online classes. Its 17 courses are built around technologies from Cisco, Microsoft, Red Hat and AWS.

Term 1 opens with Introduction to Computer Systems, Networking and IT Essentials, Introduction to Programming Using Python, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals and Microsoft Azure Administration. Term 2 is networking and security heavy: CCNA I: Introduction to Networks, CCNA II: Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials, CCNA III: Enterprise Networking, Security and Automation, and CompTIA Security+. Term 3 covers Red Hat Linux I, PowerShell Scripting, Windows Server Administration, Technical Writing and Documentation and IT Project Management, and Term 4 adds AWS Cloud Fundamentals, AWS Cloud Architecting and the Network and Systems Administrator Applied Project.

Because the courses follow the Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Security+, Red Hat, Microsoft Azure and AWS curricula, you practise on the same platforms employers run, working with virtual machines, containers, DNS, DHCP and file-sharing services. Scripting in Python and PowerShell builds automation habits from the first year. In Term 4 you choose either the Network and Systems Administrator Applied Practicum with an employer or the Applied Capstone, and you must pass one of them to graduate.

RRC Polytech lists help desk analyst, IT support technician, network support technician, cloud support technician, infrastructure technician and junior network analyst among graduate roles, alongside junior security technician. The diploma suits logical, patient troubleshooters who want certification-aligned training and a clear route into IT operations teams.
