College Diploma - Cosmetic Techniques and Management

The Cosmetic Techniques and Management diploma combines makeup artistry with the business of the beauty industry over two years.

Coursework covers makeup application techniques across beauty, bridal, editorial and special effects, colour theory and facial analysis, skin preparation and product knowledge, cosmetic ingredient science, airbrush technique, hair styling basics, photography and portfolio work, retail and cosmetic merchandising, brand management and cosmetic marketing, sales and client consultation, and beauty business operations including freelance practice.

The business half is what makes this employable beyond freelance artistry. Beauty retail, brand education and territory sales roles employ far more people than makeup artistry does and pay more consistently — and the combination of technical credibility with commercial skills is exactly what cosmetic brands look for in educators and representatives.

Newnham is Seneca’s largest campus, on Finch Avenue East in North York, with its own residence, library, athletic centre and specialised technical labs. It sits on the TTC network with subway connections, and carries the bulk of Seneca’s business, technology and engineering catalogue — which means the widest range of student clubs, services and peers of any Seneca site.

Seneca Polytechnic — formerly Seneca College — is one of Ontario’s largest public colleges and a Designated Learning Institution. Newnham is its biggest campus, on Finch Avenue East in North York, and carries the bulk of Seneca’s business, technology, engineering technology, aviation and applied science catalogue. Important: this is a college credential rather than a degree, so it is not exempt from the November 2024 PGWP field-of-study restriction — eligibility depends on this CIP field appearing on IRCC’s eligible list when you apply.
