The Bachelor of Applied Technology – Petroleum Engineering at SAIT in Calgary is an applied degree for advanced energy-sector technologists. You’ll build expertise in drilling, production, reservoir analysis, well operations and petroleum project economics, applied through real industry work.
The degree combines advanced study with a directed-studies workplace practicum, preparing you for technologist and operations roles across the oil and gas industry. (Note: this program does not currently meet PGWP eligibility criteria.)

Admission requirements
Who can apply (guide for Indian students):
- Education: A completed 12th in a related or technical field.
- English test (any one): IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (no band below 6.0), PTE Academic 60, TOEFL iBT 86, or Duolingo 120.
An applied degree is a 2-year program: one year of classes plus a one-year workplace practicum (paid hands-on training). It builds on a diploma you already hold.
