Program overview
The Engineering Transfer program at UFV offers students the opportunity to complete the first year of their Bachelor of Applied Science (Engineering) degree before transferring to renowned universities such as the University of British Columbia (UBC) or the University of Victoria (UVic). This program lays a strong foundation in essential subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry, and introductory engineering courses, preparing students for the rigors of advanced studies.
Upon completion of the UFV program, students may transfer directly into the second year of Engineering at UBC or UVic without needing additional qualifying courses, provided they meet the entrance requirements. Those who achieve the required minimum GPA can be admitted to these institutions' second-year programs. However, competition for specialty fields is based on GPA, with popular fields requiring higher GPAs than the program's entrance standards.
UFV's small class sizes and dedicated instruction give students an advantage in mastering their first-year courses and positioning themselves competitively for transfer. Additionally, UBC allows students to transfer from General Sciences programs, though this may require a higher entrance GPA.
