Program overview

The Bachelor of Creative Arts (BCA) at Yorkville University's Toronto campus in Concord, Ontario is a two-year degree-completion program for students who already hold a recognised post-secondary diploma in a creative field and want to convert it into a full bachelor's degree.

The curriculum is built around one idea: creative talent lasts longer when it is paired with professional judgment. Students study advanced storytelling and creative practice alongside the business of the creative industries — entrepreneurship and freelancing, marketing and audience analysis, media law and intellectual property, project and production management, and leadership of creative teams. Coursework is applied and portfolio-driven, so students graduate with strengthened creative work and a concrete plan for monetising it.

The program suits graduates of diplomas in film, acting, writing, design, games, animation, music and related disciplines — including international students whose home-country diploma left them one credential short of degree-level opportunities. Completing the BCA opens graduate-study pathways and satisfies the degree requirements many employers and immigration streams apply.

Studying at the Toronto campus places students inside Canada's largest creative-industries market, surrounded by the studios, agencies and media companies that hire BCA-style hybrid talent. As a bachelor's degree, the program is exempt from the post-2024 PGWP field-of-study restriction, so graduates may qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit of up to three years (final decision by IRCC).

  • Creative Producer / Project Manager — running creative projects, budgets and teams
  • Content Producer / Creative Lead — original and branded content for media companies and agencies
  • Creative Entrepreneur / Studio Founder — launching a freelance practice or small creative business
  • Marketing & Brand Content Specialist — applying creative craft inside corporate teams
  • Arts Administrator / Program Coordinator — cultural organisations, festivals and funders
  • Advancement within their diploma field — the degree unlocks senior, supervisory and salaried roles that diplomas alone often cannot
