Program overview
The Dual Program in Acting for Film, TV and Theatre with the Bachelor of Creative Arts (BCA) joins Toronto Film School's intensive 18-month conservatory-style acting diploma with a two-year degree-completion at Yorkville University's Toronto campus — training performers to a professional standard while also awarding the bachelor's degree that keeps long-term doors open.
The diploma phase is performance every week: scene study, voice and speech, movement, improvisation, on-camera technique, audition craft and self-tape production, culminating in filmed work and staged performance that becomes the actor's professional reel. Students train under working directors and casting professionals and graduate understanding how Toronto's film, television and theatre industry actually books talent.
The BCA phase then equips actors for the business of a creative career — storytelling and script analysis at a deeper level, creative entrepreneurship, contracts and industry structure, and self-promotion in the digital era — addressing the reality that sustainable acting careers are run like small businesses.
Toronto is one of North America's busiest production centres, with year-round film, television, streaming, commercial and theatre work, so students train inside the market that will employ them. Because the pathway ends in a bachelor's degree, graduates are exempt from the post-2024 PGWP field-of-study restriction and may qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit of up to three years (final decision by IRCC).
