Architectural technology is the technical delivery side of building design, and unlike architecture it is a three year route to practice rather than seven.
Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Architectural Technology is taught at the University of London Met, a public university in England with full degree awarding powers. Because the architectural technology degree is a degree, it supports an application under the UK Graduate Route, which gives two years of unsponsored work in Britain after you finish. No job offer or sponsor is needed for the architectural technology degree, but you must be inside the UK on a valid student visa when you apply. Your student visa covers the length of the architectural technology degree plus a short period afterwards. Confirm the figure on that offer rather than assuming it, and check the eligibility conditions for your intake before budgeting around it.
- Additional requirement: Chartered Architectural Technologist status follows CIAT assessment after professional experience. Architect is a separate protected title. London living costs and the UKVI maintenance requirement are both higher than for study elsewhere in Britain. Budget for the London figure rather than the national one.
- Work rights: the architectural technology degree is a degree, so it supports a UK Graduate Route application giving two years of unsponsored work after you finish. No dependant may accompany you on a taught course.
