Program overview
A master degree in international relations, covering theories of world politics, security and conflict, international political economy, global governance and a research dissertation.
London Met runs several international politics masters, so read the module lists against peace and conflict, and human rights, before choosing.
Master of Arts - International Relations is taught at the University of London Met, a public university in England with full degree awarding powers. Because the international relations masters is a degree, it supports an application under the UK Graduate Route, which gives two years of unsponsored work in Britain after you finish. No job offer or sponsor is needed for the international relations masters, but you must be inside the UK on a valid student visa when you apply. Your student visa covers the length of the international relations masters plus a short period afterwards. UK rules from January 2024 bar a dependant partner or child on taught courses, so the international relations masters does not support a family move.
Applicants to Master of Arts - International Relations need a completed bachelor degree or equivalent with a minimum of 60 percent. The English requirement is IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, and tuition for the international relations masters is recorded at GBP 20,000. London Met charges no application fee, and London Met charges no application fee, and no scholarship is recorded against the international relations masters . The international relations masters lists four entry windows across September and January, which is genuinely flexible. Apply Study Visa manages your the international relations masters application, the deposit, the offer, the CAS and the UK student visa as one process.

Admission requirements
Who can apply (guide for international students):
- Education: A completed bachelor degree or equivalent, at the percentage stated.
- English (meet any one): IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5; TOEFL iBT 72 with reading 18, writing 17, speaking 20 and listening 17; PTE Academic 59 in every component; or the Duolingo English Test at 105, which London Met does accept.
- Application and deposit: London Met charges NO application fee, so applying costs you nothing. Confirm the tuition deposit and its refundability in writing before any money is transferred.
- Scholarship: London Met applies an India Bright Futures Scholarship worth GBP 5,000 to eligible Indian students automatically, with no separate application form. You apply for the course as normal and the award appears on your offer if you qualify. Confirm the figure on that offer rather than assuming it, and check the eligibility conditions for your intake before budgeting around it.
- Additional requirement: London living costs and the UKVI maintenance requirement are both higher than for study elsewhere in Britain. Budget for the London figure rather than the national one.
- Work rights: the international relations masters is a degree, so it supports a UK Graduate Route application giving two years of unsponsored work after you finish. No dependant may accompany you on a taught course.
- Student visa: Apply Study Visa prepares the CAS request, the financial evidence and the UK student visa submission with you.
